Communicating Mathematical Ideas
Mathematics is elegant and beautiful, and Field
students learn to think mathematically and express
mathematical ideas with precision and clarity. In
addition to organized problem-solving, students
learn to share and explain their thinking (and
mistakes) verbally and in writing. Field students
write about their mathematical ideas.
The Chance to Specialize
We place incoming students in appropriately
challenging math courses based on their prior
CREATIVE + CONNECTED
experience with math. As they move through our
curriculum in the Upper School, students can
choose between courses that include real-world
applications with data and modeling or more
analytically-focused courses. Our upper-level
mathematics courses include Single Variable
Calculus and the Math Seminar: Advanced
Topics course beyond that. Students may choose
to explore other avenues of mathematical
and computational thinking in Statistics and
Quantitative Reasoning, and, when offered, Data
Science.
