SCIENCE 7: LIVING SYSTEMS
In Science 7, students answer the question,
“Who is my community?” as they learn about
the dynamics of ecosystems and the systems
that help living organisms function. Students
investigate the interdependence of organisms
in habitats and ecosystems by creating and
observing their own terrariums. Later, by studying
genetics and evolution, they discover the variety
of life on Earth and the principles that drive
variation. Students analyze the complexity of cell
structure and body systems through microscope
use and dissections to explore how individual
living organisms function and how they have
evolved over time. As students ask, “How do
ecosystems and living organisms function?”,
they continue to develop the scienti昀椀c skills of
designing experiments, interpreting data, and
using evidence to support an argument through
lab reports and presentations. To conclude the
year, students demonstrate their learning by
designing and conducting their own experiment
involving living organisms.
