MUSIC CONCENTRATION
Prerequisite: Music Foundations or department chair approval. This class may be
repeated. Each year in the class is a unique experience.
STUDIO
How do we 昀椀nd our unique musical style? How can we work with others to create
transcendent musical experiences? In this course, experienced Field students
continue advancing their musical development through ensemble collaboration,
live performance, song creation, album mastering, and music production.
Students perform live at events for the Field community and access Field’s
studio technology to capture, produce, and share these musical performances.
Music creation is at the heart of this course, with students synthesizing musical
knowledge and technical know-how to conceptualize, write, perform/record,
produce, and release original work. Students are encouraged to develop their
musical identity while engaging in interdisciplinary work with other areas of
The Field School. Music Concentration students have both large and small
performance opportunities throughout the year, and focus on creative ventures
in the spring to culminate in releases of student work. Enrollment in the course
also gives students access to the campus music facility, including a professional
16-channel, multi-track recording studio and industry-standard music production
software such as Logic Pro and Ableton Live.
